Transport and communal infrastructure

TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE – PROXIMITY TO EU MARKET AND OTHER COUNTRIES OF SOUTHEAST EUROPE

Derventa is located in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and one of the characteristics of our local community is a good connection with the main traffic corridors that connect the interior of the country with the EU.

Derventa is the hub of the highway routes Brod-Derventa-Doboj-Sarajevo-Ploče, and Bijeljina-Derventa-Banjaluka, which directly connects Derventa with the main travel routes in the EU, and the administrative centers of Banja Luka and Sarajevo. In addition to the capital of BiH, the capitals of Serbia and Croatia are also located at a distance of about 200 kilometers.

In the immediate vicinity of Derventa, there is the Banjaluka-Doboj highway (31 km), the Zagreb-Belgrade highway (33 km), the Pan-European Railway Corridor 10 (28 km), and the Banjaluka International Airport (75 km). The proximity of the railway and road corridors in the Republic of Croatia/EU, and good connections with centers within the country characterize Derventa as an extremely favorable location for business.

The plans of the local and republican authorities include the construction of an expressway that would connect Derventa with Corridor “5C”, and the construction of a connection to the highway “9. Januar” in Osinja.

Communal infrastructure and services

The city of Derventa annually adopts a capital investment plan, based on which communal infrastructure is systematically arranged.

Every year, the Department of Economy and Social Activities conducts a survey on the satisfaction of businessmen and entrepreneurs with communal infrastructure and services. You can download the questionnaire on businessmen’s satisfaction with communal services here: Upitnik_zadvodstvo_uslugama

Capital investment plans, budget for communal infrastructure and survey results are regularly reviewed by Economic Council. In this way, the needs of the business sector are participatively assessed and taken into account when planning capital investments.

The capital investment plan for 2026 can be downloaded on page 10 of the Official Gazette: Službeni-glasnik-20-25-1.
